The Center for Insect Science had one of their hexapodium meetings today in Tucson. Tucson is about a 2 hour drive from ASU. We left school just shy of 2 hours before the start of the seminars, so we had to have T, or Nitro, drive down. It was a great trip. Insect people tend to be a quirky bunch, so 2 hours in a truck with 5 social insect geeks was hilarious. I learned lots of exciting things about my friends. R has longer legs than A, but A has longer leg hair than R. T has had a thorn stuck in his hand for a year. A bit a chunck out of his grandfather's knee...The list goes on.
We screeched into Tucson about five minutes before the talks were set to start and sprinted out of the lot and up to the meeting room. It felt like were some really dorky emergency response unit springing into action to perform an emergency ant genotyping or honeybee requeening.
The talks were interesting, although a bit over my head.
rebeccmeister caught me making a grocery list during the first talk, but after we ran down for coffee between lectures, I was good to go. Dinner was tasty, as always, and we got to meet some students from the UofA. It was a pretty good day.

me too
My law school friend likes to remind me that I would make up my best skating routine formations and footwork in law school lecture. I guess its just one of those, left brain/ right brain things...when one side is overworked, it spills over into the other side. Well I guess as for you, it would be more of your brain spilling over to your stomach! ;-)
